In the interview program " 60 Minutes ," the American president is asked if he believes Maduro's days as president are numbered.
"I would say so. I think so," he says.
Trump believes that the size of the US military presence outside Venezuela depends on many different factors, but he does not believe that there will be an outright war between the countries.
I doubt it, he says in "60 Minutes".
In recent weeks, the US has carried out a number of attacks on so-called drug boats, mainly off the coast of Venezuela, in which a total of over 40 people have been killed. Washington describes the operation as combating drug smuggling.
Donald Trump recently gave the CIA the green light to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela, part of the US's efforts to put pressure on Maduro. Trump would not confirm whether any attacks are planned.
"I'm not going to talk to a reporter about whether I'm going to attack," he says.
