Trump lifts whiskey tariffs, honors British royal couple

President Donald Trump is eliminating import duties on Scotch whisky to honor the British royal couple visiting the United States.

Trump writes on his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday evening, Swedish time, that the royal couple is just leaving the White House.

In honor of the couple, "I will eliminate tariffs and restrictions on whiskey," Trump writes.

According to Trump, it concerns Scotland's possible collaboration with the state of Kentucky on whiskey and bourbon, including the wooden barrels used for storage.

"The King and Queen made me do something that no one else could do, without even being asked! What a wonderful honor to have them both in the United States," Trump writes.

The King and Queen conclude their four-day state visit on Thursday.
