Trump: Some states in the USA allow people to execute babies
Several states, like the Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, believe that fetuses can be aborted up to the ninth month – and after birth, claimed Trump.
That is false, write several American media outlets. Killing newborn babies is criminalized in all American states. Tim Walz has never said he supports anything like that. A handful of states allow abortion throughout the entire pregnancy, but it is only performed in cases of serious health risks to the mother or fatal fetal abnormalities.
Trump: Migrants eat pets
Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio eat people's dogs and cats, claimed Trump. The same claim has been circulating on social media recently and has been highlighted by, among others, Trump's running mate JD Vance.
That is completely untrue, write several American media outlets. Springfield's city management and local police have stated that they have not received any reliable reports or specific allegations of pet eating – or that any pets have been harmed by migrants at all.
Harris: Trump left behind the worst unemployment since the Great Depression
Vice President Harris claimed that Trump left the White House with a record-high American unemployment – the highest since the Great Depression, the economic downturn that followed the 1929 stock market crash on Wall Street.
That is not true, CNN notes. Unemployment was at 6.4 percent when Trump handed over to Joe Biden in January 2021, compared to 14.8 percent during the pandemic year before.
Trump: Harris met Putin days before the invasion
Vice President Harris met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for peace talks shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, claimed Trump.
Three days later, he (Putin) went in and started the war, because everything they (the negotiating team) said was weak and stupid, Trump claimed during the debate.
That is not true, reports The New York Times. Harris met with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky at the security conference in Munich days before the full-scale invasion. Putin was not present.
Trump: Inflation was zero with me in the White House
Inflation was non-existent during Trump's time as president, he claimed.
That is false, CNN reports. The cumulative inflation during Trump's presidency was around 7.8 percent, the media company reports.
