Yes, that's it, he says in an interview with Fox News, in response to the journalist's question about his previous statement on annexing the neighboring country being "for real".

The question was asked based on the statement made by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to a group of business leaders, without realizing that the microphone was still on.

Trudeau then warned that the American President is after Canada's large deposits of critical raw materials, according to, among others, the public service company CBC, which heard the statement.

Trump has it in mind that the easiest way to do it is to absorb our country, and it's for real, said Trudeau.

The statement has been completely dismissed by Canada.

In the Fox interview on Sunday, Trump claims that Canada "would be much better off being the 51st state because we lose 200 billion dollars per year with Canada."

And I won't let it happen, he says.

It is unclear how he arrived at that sum, or what transactions he is referring to.

He also says that the measures taken by Canada and Mexico to avert the trade tariffs threatened by the US "are not sufficient".
