The President of the USA, Donald Trump, is extending the current deadline for Tiktok's Chinese owner Bytedance to sell the American part of the social media company.
The deadline was set to expire on Saturday, but now Bytedance has an additional 75 days, Trump announced on his own social media platform Truth Social.
Several major companies have been reported to be interested in buying the app's American operations, including giants Amazon, Microsoft, and Walmart, but no deal has been finalized yet.
Trump's proposal to ban Tiktok in the USA was approved by the country's highest court in January, citing security concerns regarding the app's connections to China. The app was shut down for a while, but on the same day Trump took office, he extended the deadline for the company to find new non-Chinese owners.
Since then, the app has been available again for the approximately 170 million American users.
