Judge Christopher Cooper announced on Friday that President Trump must remove his name from the cultural center.
"Judge Cooper should be ashamed!" Trump wrote on Truth Social after the announcement.
"There has never been a president in the United States who has been treated so unfairly by the courts as I have."
Cooper said that only Congress can change the name of the Kennedy Center and gave a two-week deadline to remove Trump's name from the building's facade and official materials. The planned renovation, which would have meant a two-year closure, was also halted.
Trump said cooperation with Congress would be initiated to hand over "this crumbling institution."
The board of directors of the cultural center, which Trump appointed and chairs, voted to rename it the Trump Kennedy Center in December last year.
