Shira Perlmutter, whose operations fall under the Library of Congress, received the message on Saturday that her employment would be terminated, reports Politico with reference to internal communication from the Library of Congress.

On Thursday, the head of the Library of Congress, Carla Hayden, was fired. The dismissal came without explanation in a two-sentence email. The White House referred to her work on diversity efforts and taking in "inappropriate books for children".

Shira Perlmutter and her colleagues have just written a report with questions and concerns about how AI can strike copyrighted material.

Democrat Joe Morelle says it is no coincidence that Perlmutter, "who refused to support Elon Musk's efforts to use large amounts of copyrighted material to train AI models, was fired directly after the report was released.

Trump's advisor and X-owner Elon Musk is deeply involved in AI projects and has launched his own AI chatbot Grok.
