People who met the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein "innocently" risk having their reputations ruined by the publication of the Epstein documents, says US President Donald Trump.

The statement is the first the president has made on the matter since the Justice Department began releasing thousands of documents and images related to the Epstein investigation on Friday.

"There are pictures of me too," Trump says.

Everyone was friendly with this guy (Epstein).

Among the documents released so far, former US President Bill Clinton has appeared in several places.

"I like Bill Clinton. I've always gotten along with Bill Clinton. I hate seeing pictures of him released," Trump said.

Bill Clinton is a big boy; he can handle it.

According to Trump, there are many who are angry that pictures are being released of people who actually had nothing to do with Epstein.

"There are likely pictures being released of other people who innocently met Jeffrey Epstein many years ago, and they are highly respected bankers and lawyers and other things," he says.

But they're in a picture with him because he was at a party, and you're ruining someone's reputation.

According to Trump, the focus on the Epstein files is a way to distract from the "tremendous success" that the Republican Party is having.
