"We are leading China in AI. We are the most sophisticated country in the world and frankly I want it to stay that way because whoever wins the AI race wins," Trump said at his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland.

The comment comes after OpenAI's and Anthropic's CEOs, Sam Altman and Dario Amodei, respectively, as well as entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk, all warned that AI is now developing at a pace that poses potential risks to humanity.

However, Trump seemingly played down the threat, without mentioning any individual actor.
