In an email that the news agency AP has taken part of, the White House personnel department writes "on behalf of President Donald J Trump" that her service will be terminated with immediate effect.

There are quite disturbing things that she has done at the Library of Congress, targeting diversity work and bringing in inappropriate books for children in the library, says the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, according to NPR.

A few hours before Carla Hayden received the email late on Thursday, the conservative interest group AAF wrote on X that Hayden is "woke, anti-Trump" and advocates for transsexuality among children.

The dismissal of Hayden has outraged the opposition party Democrats.

Now it's enough, says the Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer.
