Trump Criticizes Putin as "Completely Crazy" Amid Russia-Ukraine Tensions

"I have always had a very good relationship with Russia's Vladimir Putin, but something has happened to him. He has become completely crazy!", writes Trump partly in capital letters on his own platform.

"He kills a lot of people completely unnecessarily and I'm not just talking about soldiers. Robots and drones are being shot at Ukrainian cities without any reason whatsoever”.

New sanctions?

The US President says he is considering new sanctions against Russia. Previously, Trump has been hesitant about sanctions, citing that it would ruin his attempts to achieve a ceasefire. But Russia's large-scale offensive last week seems to have made him change his mind.

We were about to talk and then he fired rockets at Kyiv and other cities, notes Trump to journalists on Sunday.

Donald Trump's outburst follows extensive Russian attacks on several Ukrainian cities over the weekend. At least 13 civilians were killed in a robot and drone attack on Sunday, described as the biggest since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022.

"I have always said that he wants the whole of Ukraine, not just a part of it, and maybe it turns out to be true, but if that's what he wants, it will lead to Russia's downfall", writes Trump in his post.

Can back out

Even Volodymyr Zelenskyj gets a tongue-lashing, as Trump believes that "everything that comes out of his mouth creates problems" and that it must stop.

The twists and turns in Donald Trump's attempts to mediate between Russia and Ukraine have been many. Last Monday, he spoke with Putin for two hours on the phone, after which Trump claimed that Russia and Ukraine were about to start negotiations.

When Putin's spokesperson Dmitrij Peskov comments on Trump's outburst, he first expresses gratitude that the US took the initiative for talks.

It is, of course, a very crucial moment that, of course, is linked to everyone's emotional overload, and emotional reactions.
