We want the hostages back, but we are not satisfied with how it went today.

Qatar is partly an important mediator in the Gaza conflict, partly a heavy ally to the USA. The Arab country has protested bitterly against Israel's attempt to kill Hamas leaders in the capital Doha on Tuesday.

"I see Qatar as a strong ally and friend to the USA, and view very negatively the location of the attack", Trump writes according to media.

According to information, the USA should have been warned about Israel's attack, but Trump claims it was too late:

"I immediately assigned the special envoy Steve Witkoff to inform the Qataris about the impending attack. He did, but unfortunately it was too late to stop the attack"

The USA has often during the Gaza war been heavily criticized for not caring about suspected war crimes from Israel's side. Now Trump says he has expressed his displeasure about the Qatar incident to Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – but tries at the same time to smooth it over.

"I believe that this unfortunate incident can serve as an opportunity for PEACE", he writes.
