USA's president Donald Trump opens up for possibly invoking USA's Insurrection Act, which gives the president the opportunity to deploy military to suppress uprisings or under certain circumstances maintain law and order.

We have the Insurrection Act for a reason. If I had to invoke it, I would do it, he says to journalists in the Oval Office.

If people were killed and courts prevented us or governors or mayors prevented us, I would of course do it.

The President's statement comes after the Trump administration's decision to deploy state military in the city of Portland in Oregon was stopped by a court. The White House's attempt to send military from the neighboring state of California was also stopped by a court on Sunday. The mayor of Chicago and the US state of Illinois have filed a lawsuit to stop the plans to send the National Guard to the city.

Trump claims that the targeted cities and states, which have democratic rule, are unable to maintain law and order – which is responded to by declining federal help in the current cases.
