The US president confirmed Axios's report that he called Prime Minister Netanyahu 'absolutely fucking crazy' and demanded an end to the attacks on Lebanon during a phone call on Monday.
Trump also reportedly said, "You would have been in jail if it weren't for me," according to Axios's sources, referring to his support during Netanyahu's corruption trial.
"I got a little irritated by his constant battles with Lebanon," Trump said on the New York Post podcast Pod Force One.
At the same time, the president maintains that he and Netanyahu - often called Bibi - have a good relationship.
We have worked very well together. I really like Bibi.
Monday's heated talks came hours after Iran reportedly suspended peace talks with the United States in protest at Israel's war in Lebanon.
"Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this," Trump reportedly said, according to Axios.
Netanyahu, in an interview with CNBC, avoided commenting on the details of the phone call. Instead, he emphasized that he and Trump agree that the Shiite militia Hezbollah must be disarmed.
"You have these kinds of tactical disagreements. We always find a way to sort them out," Netanyahu said, adding:
We may disagree in the morning, but then in the afternoon we agree on joint action.
