Trump Confirms No Plans for a Third Presidential Term

USA's President Donald Trump gives his clearest message yet that he is not going to try to stay on in the White House after his ongoing second term has expired. "It's not something I'm after," he says in an interview with the channel.

Full focus is on the present work in the White House, according to Trump.

I look forward to four good years, and to hand over to someone, a good Republican, he says to NBC.

In the USA, a president can, according to an addition to the country's constitution, only sit two terms.

Despite this, Trump has previously not excluded sitting a third term. But now Trump says that it is eight years that apply and nothing else.

I will be president for two terms. I have always thought it is very important.

He adds, however, that many want him to stand in the election of 2028.

According to the president, no concrete meetings have been held on how he could go about getting a third term, but he says he has taken part in different ideas about possible approaches.

During the interview, Trump answers yes to the question of whether he believes his Make America Great Again movement can survive without him leading it.

I think it is so strong, and we have fantastic people... Think about Marco (Rubio), JD Vance, who is fantastic, I could mention ten-fifteen-twenty people just sitting here.
