According to Trump, the legal process is disrupting Netanyahu's work.
"What's important is that he is currently negotiating an agreement with Hamas, which will include getting the hostages back," Trump writes on Truth Social.
He does not elaborate further on the alleged negotiations. When Israel talks to terrorist-stamped Hamas, it is usually done through mediators.
In the same post on Truth Social, Trump writes that it is "terrible" how Netanyahu is being treated by the Israeli justice system. Trump describes it with the same words he has used many times about his own legal processes in the USA: "A political witch hunt".
"We will not tolerate this," Trump writes.
Netanyahu himself has requested that the trial be postponed in light of "regional and global developments". The process has been going on for several years and he is accused of fraud, bribery and disloyalty to the principal.
Trump stated on Friday that an agreement on a new ceasefire in Gaza may be underway as early as next week.
