We are sending weapons to Nato, and Nato is paying for the weapons, 100 percent, he says in a large interview with NBC News.

So what we do is that the weapons that are sent out go to Nato, and then Nato will give the weapons to Ukraine.

According to Trump, the arrangement for the arms deliveries is based on an agreement concluded at Nato's summit in June.

We are sending weapons to Nato, and Nato will replace the entire cost of these weapons.

It is unclear whether Trump is referring to an idea that some Nato members have raised, about buying US-made weapons on behalf of Ukraine.

Robots to Patriot

The issue of American weapons to Ukraine has been messy lately. Last week, the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, announced that promised arms deliveries to Ukraine would be stopped. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth had made the decision without informing the White House, according to information to American media.

But a few days later, Trump announced that the arms deliveries would be resumed.

It's about, among other things, robots for the Patriot air defense system, which is something that Ukraine needs most urgently.

News about Russia

In the NBC interview, Donald Trump also announces that he has big news coming about Russia soon, without elaborating.

I am disappointed in Russia, but we will see what happens in the coming weeks, he says.

I think I will have an important statement about Russia on Monday.

Trump has recently sharpened his tone against Russia's President Vladimir Putin significantly, not least after the increasingly intense Russian nighttime attacks on civilians in Ukrainian cities.

A proposal for new sanctions against Russia is expected to be dealt with shortly in the Senate in the US Congress.
