Donald Trump's outburst against what he calls Iran's "so-called" supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is about Iran constantly claiming to have emerged victorious from the twelve-day war with Israel.

"As a believing man, he should not lie," Trump writes, and continues to describe how he always knew where the leader was hiding, but refused to let either Israel or the US attack.

Trump also says that he has been working in recent days to lift sanctions against Iran, but that he has stopped doing so because he has been met with "anger, hatred and disgust".

The post has been responded to on X by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who writes that Trump should put the "disrespectful and unacceptable tone" towards the ayatollah aside if he wants an agreement with Iran.

On Saturday, around 60 people who were killed by Israel will be buried in Tehran. Several of them are high-ranking military personnel.
