"The only control or 'guardrail' that AI needs is a strong and smart (high IQ) president, and the United States has that in abundance!" Trump writes in a post on Truth Social.
The move is the latest in which the US president downplays the need to slow down AI, something that several industry leaders - including OpenAI's Sam Altman, entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei - have called for in recent days, citing security risks.
In the post, Donald Trump specifically points out Amodei and Anthropic, with whom the Pentagon has tried to break contracts since the company came into conflict with the Department of Defense.
