Trump Assures Smooth Experience for Fans at 2026 World Championship

Football fans from around the world will be welcomed to the USA during the World Championship 2026. Donald Trump has promised this after concerns that his tough border policy would impact the tournament.

The USA, together with Mexico and Canada, will host the World Championship in football next year.

Every part of the American government will work to ensure that these events are safe and successful, and that those who travel to the USA to watch the competition have a smooth experience in every part of their visit, says Trump during a press conference together with Gianni Infantino, head of the International Football Federation (Fifa).

Vice President JD Vance, however, emphasizes that the warm welcome comes with an expiration date.

We will probably have visitors from nearly 100 countries. We want them to come. We want them to celebrate. We want them to watch the matches, says Vance and adds:

But when the time is up, they must go home.

Despite the USA having introduced trade tariffs against both Mexico and Canada, which has stirred up strong feelings, Trump does not view it as an obstacle to good cooperation with the two neighboring countries.

I don't see tensions. We get along very well with both, he says.
