The announcement came as Cole Tomas Allen appeared in court on Monday.

His lawyers also argued that prosecutor Jeanine Pirro and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche should be removed from the prosecution, saying they were disqualified from attending the dinner.

It was on April 25 that Allen, armed with a knife and a firearm, is accused of trying to force his way through security and storm the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. He was unsuccessful and no shots were fired among the guests. However, a Secret Service guard wearing a bulletproof vest was hit outside.

Among the party attendees were Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance.
