USA's president Donald Trump recently extended the deadline for the sale of Tiktok to an American owner. Now he says he has found his buyer.

It is a group of very rich people, says Trump to Fox News.

I probably need China's approval and I think President Xi (Jinping, ed. note) will do it.

Exactly who the buyers are, he reveals in "about two weeks".

In the fall of 2024, a law was adopted in the USA that prohibits the use of Tiktok in the country - as long as the app is owned by a Chinese company. The condition for it to be used in the USA is that it comes into American ownership.

Tiktok was shut down in the USA on January 19 as a result of the requirement, but when Trump took office as president the next day, he signed a presidential order that gave Tiktok's owner more time to find an American buyer.

The deadline has been extended several times, most recently in mid-June. The current deadline expires on September 17.
