We have a mineral agreement that I understand is to be signed on Thursday... next Thursday. Soon. And I expect them to honor the agreement. So we'll see. But we have an agreement, said Trump to reporters at the White House earlier on Maundy Thursday.
Later, Ukraine's First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the countries had signed a letter of intent during the day.
"It paves the way for an economic partnership agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for Ukraine's reconstruction", she writes on X, formerly Twitter.
The mineral agreement, which is to give the USA extensive rights to Ukrainian natural resources in exchange for continued American support in defense against Russia's invasion, was supposed to be signed in February. But it fell through after a chaotic meeting between Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in Washington.
