Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyj and the US president Donald Trump meet in New York on Tuesday, in connection with the UN week.

This will be the second time the leaders meet since Trump in mid-August held a summit with Russia's President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, a meeting that ended without any direct agreements.

Trump has announced that he wants to ensure that Zelenskyj and Putin meet to discuss a peace agreement. However, no such meeting has taken place so far.

Russia has continued its attacks on Ukraine after Putin's and Trump's meeting and also violated the airspace of several NATO countries.

Trump promised during last year's election campaign that he would put an end to the war quickly after he won the election, but last week he admitted that it had been harder than he thought.

Putin has really let me down, he said then at a press conference together with the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
