Donald Trump dismisses the court ruling that he, on January 10 – ten days before he is sworn in as president – will receive his sentence in the case concerning payments of hush money to a porn actress.
"This illegitimate attack is nothing but a rigged charade", Trump writes in a post on his platform Truth Social on Saturday.
The message was announced by Judge Juan Merchan on Friday, who also stated that Trump must be present in the courtroom or participate via video link when the sentence is made public.
Trump was convicted on 34 counts in May last year by a jury in New York. Merchan, who serves at the criminal court on Manhattan, decided to postpone the sentence until after the presidential election in November to dispel any suspicion of interference in the election.
