California has voted to change the state's electoral districts - which is expected to benefit Democrats due to demographic changes.
The US Department of Justice responds by filing a lawsuit alleging that changes to the electoral districts violate the law.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirms the action in a statement:
“California’s redistricting is a brazen abuse of power, trampling on citizens’ rights and making a mockery of the democratic process.”
Texas has previously decided on a similar change to the state's electoral districts, which is expected to give Republicans advantages in the distribution of seats.
