The Trump administration has stopped the Norwegian company Equinor's construction of a wind farm, called Empire Wind, in the sea off New York.
Equinor confirms to NTB that the construction of wind turbines is stopped on Thursday.
The construction at sea is terminated in a safe manner until we get clarity, says Equinor's press chief Sissel Rinde.
Late on Wednesday, the US Interior Minister Doug Burgum ordered a stop to "all construction activities" on the project.
At the same time, work continues in Brooklyn with building a terminal that is part of the project.
The wind farm Empire Wind, which is expected to be completed in 2027, will have a capacity of 810 megawatts and will be able to supply 500,000 households in New York with electricity.
The park is located in the sea 25 to 50 kilometers southeast of Long Island.
