Donald Trump claims that the former president Barack Obama tried to steal the election 2016 and is also guilty of treason.

The current American president claims that Obama was caught red-handed trying to steal the election from Trump to Hillary Clinton.

The evidence would be a report from the US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard last week about the 2016 election, where she claims that "Obama laid the foundation" for what is described as a coup against Trump. But Trump is twisting that report and also goes against previous investigations where Republicans also found that Russia tried to influence the election outcome to Trump's advantage.

Nevertheless, Trump now says about Obama that:

He was guilty. It was treason.

Barack Obama has responded to the allegations through a spokesperson, which he calls "sufficiently disturbing to deserve a response".

"These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt to distract (from the Jeffrey Epstein documents). Nothing in this undermines the widely accepted conclusion that Russia tried to influence the 2016 election", he writes and notes that even Trump's current foreign minister Marco Rubio thought this.

Trump's statement comes the day after he published a false AI-generated video on Truth Social showing Obama being arrested by police.

As early as 2017, Trump claimed that Obama had him wiretapped before the election, without presenting any evidence for this.
