"The White House Correspondents' Association has very kindly asked me to be the guest of honor at this year's dinner," Trump wrote on social media.
He added that he accepts that the United States is 250 years old this year and that "these correspondents now admit that I am truly one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country."
The event will take place on April 25. Magician and TV star Oz Pearlman is set to perform, according to media.
The dinner, a tradition dating back to the 1920s, is intended to support freedom of speech, among other things. Trump, who regularly attacks the media, has previously boycotted the dinner.
