Anton Källberg had the chance to set up a historic blue-yellow final at the WTT Champions in Macau, but he was never close in his semi-final against Brazil's Hugo Calderano.
Calderano won in four straight sets (11–5, 11–7, 11–8, 11–7) and will face Truls Möregårdh in the final later today.
Möregårdh's path through the semi-finals was significantly more dramatic.
Second-seeded Japanese player Tomokazu Harimoto took the first and third sets, while Möregårdh equalised in the second and fourth. After the sixth set, the score was tied again, and the match went to a seventh and decisive set, where the Swede was finally able to score the match point to make it 16–14.
"I always enjoy playing table tennis, but wow, that was tough mentally. He is one of the players with the best mentality in the whole world, and incredibly hard to beat, but it was nice to show that I am also hard to beat," says Möregårdh in the victory interview on SVT's broadcast.
The set scores were: 11–13, 11–6, 6–11, 12–10, 11–8, 9–11, 16–14.
The provisional start time for the final, Möregårdh's first in the WTT Champions this year, is 1:30 p.m.
