Möregårdh breathed a heavy sigh of relief after reaching the round of 16 in the WTT tournament in Macau against Patrick Franziska from Germany.
"I think I played well from the start, but when Patrick plays like this it's very tough. But then I found my game more and more," says Möregårdh in the victory interview on SVT's broadcast.
The Swede, ranked fifth in the world, was down 0–2 in sets after Franziska dominated the match with his dazzling backhand. But Möregårdh fought back, winning three straight sets and the match 3–2 (5–11, 8–11, 11–5, 11–9, 11–9).
A nice revenge after last month's Europe Smash in Malmö, where defending champion Möregårdh was eliminated in the first round.
"Maybe it was just this kind of victory that I needed. I'm happy and a little shocked," says Möregårdh.
Anton Källberg has also already qualified for the round of 16.
