After reaching the semifinals at this weekend's major Singapore Smash on the World Tour, Möregårdh has advanced three places in the world rankings, which were updated on Monday.
The Swede climbs past Brazilian Hugo Calderano (previously second), Chinese Lin Shidong (who remains third) and Japanese Tomokazu Harimoto (previously fourth).
The new runner-up Möregårdh - who won the Europe Smash in Malmö in August - has 6,565 points, but is well behind world number one Wang Chuqin of China, who has 11,225 points.
Truls Möregårdh was previously ranked as high as third in the world, a position he held for a period in the fall of 2022.
