Truls Möregårdh struggled to get his backhand working against the left-handed Lin, who had an answer to all of the Swede's attacks and hit world-class returns. Lin also benefited from a couple of shots that clipped the table edges.
The Swede kept pace in two sets but was beaten 7–11, 9–11, 9–11, 7–11.
In the semifinals, Lin Yun-Ju will face Brazilian Hugo Calderano, who defeated world number two Félix Lebrun of France.
The tournament in Beijing is something of a warm-up for the European Championships in Slovenia, which begin tomorrow.
