World No. 4 Möregårdh won 3–0, with set scores of 11–8, 11–6, 11–8, against the Frenchman, ranked 22nd.
But the question is whether the Swede is at full strength later in the tournament.
At 1–1 in the third set, Möregårdh reached for a ball and grimaced.
While leading 3–1, he stopped serving for a while and reached for his shoulder. However, the match continued without further problems.
Möregårdh is the reigning champion and will face either Japan’s Shunsuke Togami or Croatia’s Tomislav Pucar in the next round.
Earlier in the day, Elias Ranefur advanced after defeating Anton Källberg in an all-Swedish match.
