In the middle of the race, the lighting went out at Östersundstravet and several teams collided. A driver has been taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

My horse was on its back when the lights came on and there were horses everywhere, says the driver Liv Sjölund to Travronden, reports Östersunds-Posten.

The lighting had stopped working between two races earlier during the Friday evening.

Östersundstravet's CEO Daniel Storey writes in a text message to Expressen:

”A driver has been taken to the hospital by ambulance. An investigation into what caused the lighting to go out is ongoing”.

Driver Oskar Florhed tells ATG Live about the accident that occurred in the seventh race.

It became pitch black after 200 meters. I had just taken the lead, but you became completely blinded and saw nothing. My horse stopped short and got scared. Then I got the whole field over me, I hardly know what happened, says Florhed according to several media.

The remaining races during the competition day were cancelled.
