A tropical night means that the temperature does not drop below 20 degrees during the night.
The night into Thursday was recorded as tropical in several places, including the stations Kilsbergen-Suttarboda outside Örebro, Kolmården-Strömsfors outside Norrköping, Observatoriekullen in Stockholm and Vinga outside Gothenburg.
However, the first tropical nights of the year were already measured during the warm spell at the end of June. And more can be expected, according to SMHI.
I can definitely imagine that there could be another tropical night during the coming night, as we have a new spell of really warm weather over the country, says Christopher Greenland, meteorologist at SMHI.
