Newcastle's back Kieran Trippier quits the national team.
The English national team back has made 54 international appearances and was one of former national team captain Gareth Southgate's most given players.
Southgate left his post after England's loss in the European Championship final against Spain in July and now Trippier announces that he is putting a stop to his national team career.
Alexander Isak's 33-year-old teammate writes on X:
"54 international appearances, a special goal and countless memories".
One of the full-back's highlights was his leading goal on a free kick in the World Championship semi-final against Croatia in 2018, a match that England lost with 1–2.
Trippier was also a starter in England's European Championship final loss on penalties against Italy at Wembley in 2021.
