All military personnel have been recalled to their respective bases and all forms of leave are currently limited.
The island nation has found itself in the middle of increasingly tense relations between the United States and Venezuela. This week, a US military ship was sent to Trinidad and Tobago, which is off the coast of Venezuela, for exercises.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has called the exercise a "military provocation with the aim of provoking a war in the Caribbean."
In recent weeks, the United States has carried out a number of attacks on so-called drug boats, mainly off the coast of Venezuela, in which a total of more than 40 people have been killed. Washington describes the operation as combating drug smuggling.
Donald Trump recently gave the CIA the green light to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela as part of the US's efforts to put pressure on Maduro, but he denied on Friday that there were plans for a related attack on the country.
