The substitute first reported his colleague's behavior to Trelleborg municipality, which, however, concluded that it was unclear what had happened and that statements contradicted each other.
The Discrimination Ombudsman (DO) disagrees. The substitute had recorded the colleague being confronted about the language used. On the recording, the colleague can be heard confirming the use of the n-word. The DO believes that the municipality has not taken “reasonable measures”.
The municipality has admitted in a letter to the DO that it failed, and compensation will be paid. The person who was reported has been relocated.
