Victor Hedman missed the 1-2 overtime game against Edmonton. It was the fifth straight game the Swede missed due to injury and now the 34-year-old is on Tampa Bay's long-term injured list.
According to coach Jon Cooper, it is unclear how long Hedman will be out, but Tampa Bay is expecting a few weeks.
The most important thing here is the long-term perspective and that he gets better in the long run, says coach Jon Cooper according to nhl.com.
Hedman, who has twelve assists in fifteen NHL games this season, is one of six players selected for Tre Kronor's Olympic team. The Winter Games will be held in Italy in February.
The others who have already been selected are Adrian Kempe, Gabriel Landeskog, Lucas Raymond, Rasmus Dahlin and William Nylander.
