The Government has allocated 1,200 billion kronor for the next twelve years. With this money, travel is expected to become more reliable, efficient and safer, writes representatives of the Transport Administration on DN Debatt.
In the proposal for the new national plan for transport infrastructure, the Transport Administration highlights the measures intended to, among other things, strengthen Sweden's total defense.
Investments in maintenance and increased opportunities for heavier and longer vehicles on roads and tracks are, according to the debate article, important in "an era of increased security threats and climate risks".
The largest investments in new infrastructure go to the railway, mainly to increase capacity and reliability. Something that is expected to provide benefits for both defense and industry.
Major investments in maintenance will also be made and the authors write that one can now start addressing the railway maintenance that one considers neglected.
