"We hope to be able to come up with a forecast later in the afternoon or evening," the Swedish Transport Administration's press spokesperson Angelica Knutsson told TT.
It was during the night into Sunday that two wagons on a freight train derailed between Kaisepakte and Stordalen, southeast of Abisko, in connection with a switch and at low speed.
There was no traffic on the track on Monday, and that will likely apply to Tuesday as well. Traffic may therefore resume on Wednesday at the earliest.
It is mainly freight trains that are affected by the stoppage, but SJ has canceled some departures on the Luleå–Narvik and Narvik–Boden routes.
