The Swedish Transport Administration is reducing the speed of several trains that run on tracks in Småland and parts of eastern Sweden on Wednesday. The reason is the high temperatures in several parts of southern Sweden.

"We are reducing the speed for safety reasons. With such high temperatures expected, there is a risk of sun kinks on tracks with lower standards, and this is a way to manage the risk. If we reduce the speed, the forces in the track become less, it also gives the train driver a greater chance of detecting them", says Jonas Bruce, unit manager Railway South-East region, in a press release.

The Swedish Transport Administration will also cancel work in parts of Götaland and Svealand that may involve an increased fire risk.
