According to early information from the police, the two men were conscious before they were taken by ambulance to hospital.
The accident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. at an unattended crossing where a road meets a railway, at a location where the train, according to the police, was estimated to be traveling at around 80–100 kilometers per hour.
According to photos from the scene, the car was on its roof next to the track after the collision. According to police, one of the men remained in the car while the other got out.
The rescue service tells SVT Jönköping that there were 19 passengers and two staff on the train and that all escaped without injury. The train remains on the track and service on the route is suspended.
