Boqvist was forced to part ways with big brother Jesper, still in Florida Panthers, the other day. But he was promptly on the spot and scored the equalizer to 1–1 for his new team at the end of the second period. He scored on a rebound after Mathew Barzal failed to outmaneuver Tampa's goalkeeper for the day, Andrei Vasilevskiy.

It's spinning a bit in my head, I got to town at half past one last night, said Boqvist to reporters after the match.

A crazy day, but when you go out on the ice, you don't think that much, you want to go out and fight and play for the team.

New teammate Simon Holmström also got an assist for that goal and he got another one for the setup for New York's decisive 3–2 in overtime.
