Alexandersson won by a margin of 49 seconds ahead of Simona Aebersold of Switzerland. But the Swede didn't run with any sense of achievement in the difficult terrain.
It was tough and challenging out there and I didn't have a great feeling, says Alexandersson, who above all made a bad choice on the way to victory.
I got completely stuck in a green area and it felt like “will I ever get out of here”? There were trees everywhere, I lost a lot of time there.
Sanna Fast also secured bronze for Sweden, finishing 4.25 minutes behind the orienteering great.
"Oh my God, I went through all the emotions on the spectrum! At times it was really hard. It was really tight, you had to push your way through the forest and climb among sticks and "broke" and I just wanted to go home," Fast tells SVT.
It was also a Swedish fifth place through Sara Hagström, who made a strong comeback after giving birth in May.
"Luckily, this championship is held in such technical terrain. This was a perfect long distance for me, where there is a lot of orienteering all the way and no long super hills where you have to be a physical monster," Hagström tells SVT.
