Tougher penalties for extensive elder fraud

Svea Court of Appeal is tightening the sentence for two men convicted of their involvement in serious fraud against the elderly in the Stockholm area.

In the district court, one of the men was sentenced to four years and eleven months in prison. The Court of Appeal increased the sentence to five years and two months in prison. The other man's sentence was increased from two years and four months in prison to three years in prison.

A total of eleven people, aged between 17 and 36, were charged for their involvement in the extensive fraud case, which involved several cases of aggravated fraud, burglary and attempted aggravated fraud. Ten of them were convicted in the district court.

35 elderly people in the Stockholm area were plaintiffs.
