Svensson got off to a great start at TPC Craig Ranch when he recorded nine birdies and a total of 63 strokes (par 71) during the first round. A feat the 30-year-old golfer failed to repeat.

Instead, Svensson had two birdies and three bogeys, dropping him from a tie for second at –8 to –7, well within striking distance of the lead.

Im Sung-Jae fared better. The South Korean rounded out the day with a hole-in-one on hole number 7 - the 16th in Im's order of play for the round - and an eagle on the final hole. He totaled 61 strokes and shared the clubhouse lead at –13.

Several players, including world number one Scottie Scheffler, are still in their second round.
