It is Bühler's club team Tottenham that confirms her injury in social media.
"We wish you a speedy recovery", the club writes.
The defender jumped into Switzerland's training match against the Czech Republic on Thursday, which ended 4–1 to the European Championship host nation.
Bühler missed several matches at the end of the club season, but the hope was that she would be in playable condition by the summer.
"We knew it would be a race against the clock", says national team captain Pia Sundhage in a statement, according to the Swiss Blick.
It has already been clear that the Swiss superstar Ramona Bachmann will miss the championship.
Prior to the European Championship, there have been reports of internal dissatisfaction with Pia Sundhage. It is supposed to be, among other things, that the Swede presses players too hard, and forces injured players to participate in matches and training.
The European Championship in Switzerland is played 2–27 July.
