Tottenham Hotspur had wanted to buy an offensive midfielder during the summer transfer window, but failed to recruit both Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest and Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
Now the London team has managed to attract a player – Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
”I'm really happy and look forward to getting started. I've been dreaming about this for a long time”, he says in a statement on Tottenham's website.
According to British media, Tottenham paid around 660 million kronor for the Dutchman.
Simons emerged in FC Barcelona's academy and was a big talent as a young player.
The 22-year-old has previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven.
”He's still young, but he already has good experience and has played many matches at the highest level in recent years”, says “Spurs” head coach Thomas Frank.
